The crew

One person makes the call.

Merit Trades is small on purpose. The person who checks the ticket is the person who phones your last two supervisors, and the person who decides whether you get sent to a site. That person is William.

I started Merit because hiring had turned into forwarding resumes, and nobody was answering the questions that actually decide whether a placement holds: can this person do the work, and is the site worth showing up to.

On the trades desk that means I verify the ticket with the issuing authority, call two supervisors who watched the person work, confirm the right to work, and match the level to the job instead of the job title. I also ask the contractor about the rate, the schedule, the site expectations and who is running the crew. If either side does not hold up, nobody gets sent.

When you call the number above, you get me. If I say a journeyperson is ready for your site on Monday, I have talked to them and to the people who supervised them.

Ticket checked. Level matched. Real conversation.
